Ephata

The vampire demon of Aramaic lore is called Ephata and appears as a shadow.
This one of the weirdest creations I’ve ever heard of. Ready?

When the body of the deceased doesn’t decay properly the soul is forced to stay with the body and is bound to to this world.

At night the spirit leaves its body and searches for humans to drain of blood. If its corpse is destroyed the Ephata will be released from the binding and can move to the next world.

Pigs

Yep pigs are what I’m going to talk about today.

Killing a pig on October 17 -the feast day of St. Ignacius- and smearing the pigs blood on your body will keep vampires away from you.
Smearing pig lard on the corpse is believed to keep it from becoming a vampire.

Why?
Wallachian lore says vampires prefer to shape-shift into a pig.

Hante Pore

A vampire spirit in Indian lore can attack people from a safety of its own home.

By entering the astral plane. After wandering the astral plane looking for its victims it will exit the plane in the victim’s home. Its been described as looking like a three foot long leech.

It attaches to an open wound and drain its prey of their blood.

Blackthorn

Blackthorn.
Black thorn is a wood said to be effective in slaying vampires.
Blackthorn’s supernatural power is believed to come from its association to Christ and the crown of thorns he wore during the passion of the crucifixion. It’s believed only Blackthorn can kill Lastovo Island vampires.

If placing a stake over vampires grave it will prevent the devil that inhabited the corpse from escaping. It also helps vampire hunters to beat the devil with it.

Porcelnik

We’ve gone over many witches that either act like vampires or turn into a vampire after death.
The Porcelnik is one of those vampires.
In life, the Porcelnik lives in Russia. He’s a human sorcerer that displays vampire activities.

The town’s people call him Porcelnik or “The Harmer”.
Once the sorcerer dies, the townsfolk burn his body on a pyre of Aspen wood to keep him from rising and becoming an Eretik vampire revenant.

Eretik

Eretik
Russian folklore believes any dying person can be possessed before death a witch will reanimate the possessed body. The body will become an Eretik or “heretic”.
Other ways of becoming an Eretik are living life as a heretic, selling your soul to the devil, sleeping on a grave, or making inappropriate noises in a bathhouse.


As soon as the vampire is created, it begins its hunt of consuming flesh and blood first from its family, then from others. Its feedings will make people die.
Eretiks have the most vicious look that anyone who sees his angered expression will die.
It lives in dry riverbeds where it routinely performs Black Masses. It’s most active at night and in spring and fall.
While this vampire is, a living being it must be killed by traditional vampire killing methods: a stake through the heart followed by beheading and burning the remains to ash.

Dog Rose

Commonly found in Europe and Asia. Dog rose is a bushy plant with pink or white flowers and thorny branches.

The area has added dog rose into its vampire lore. Gathering the petals and throwing the blooms and at a vampire will force it to stop and count them.

You can also string the blooms up and wrap the garland around a coffin to keep a vampire from rising.

Colo-Colo

The Araucanian people of Chile have a vampire creature in their mythology.

The Colo-Colo monster is born from a cockerel egg.

It preys on sleeping people hovering over the body and sucking their saliva draining from their body.
The victim wakes with a high fever and dies soon after.

Asrapa

Asrapa
In India, a vampire-witch exist called Asrapa.

She wanders naked through cemeteries where she feeds on the flesh of men, women, or children. She’s not fussy on whether the flesh is from the living or the dead.

Asrapa is a shape-shifter who can raise the dead by a gift given to her by the Goddess Kali.
She’s believed to be the daughter of the Sage Kasyape and his wife Muni the daughter of Daksha. Others believe Brahma was angry and thought of a monster creating the Asrapa meaning blood drinker from his excess energy.
