Gold can be used to protection against evil. It’s not as well-known as silver.
It’s gold is associated with the sun, goodness, and everything light, divinity and purity.
Placing gold coins or crosses on a corpse will keep it from rising from the grave.

Never heard of that. It does seem silver takes all of the protection fame. That and iron.
Silver is pure, that’s why. Gold isn’t as well known, keeps the “others” safe. 😉

That’s what’s said. There isn’t anything else mixed into silver. The other metals are mixtures of various metals.
Maybe more common than gold too. Less worth, so better for weapons too possibly.

Interesting. I’d heard about gold crosses on caskets, but not the coins. Any bit of folklore always intrigues me!
